Why We Give

 

As Christians, we give because of the grace that God has given us. The Bible describes our giving as:

 

* An Act of Worship (1 Corinthians 16:2)

  • By every believer (2 Corinthians 9:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2)

  • Primarily to and through the Church (1 Corinthians 

  • Consistent and systematic (1 Corinthians 16:2)

  • Proportionate (1 Corinthians 16:2)

  • Generous (2 Corinthians 8:2) 

  • Willful (2 Corinthians 8:3) 

  • Active (2 Corinthians 8:7) 

  • Love-motivated (2 Corinthians 8:8) 

 

The primary way God provides for His church is through the faithful and generous giving of His people. Therefore each of us must give what God has placed on our hearts, not reluctantly or under compulsion but cheerfully, because God loves a cheerful giver. (See 2 Corinthians 9:7)

 

Because scripture indicates our giving is a form of worship to the Lord, we receive these offerings during our Sunday service.
